Saf-T-Liner HDX
This bus model was bought because the Saf-T-Liner ER/MVP ER models were discontinued. These buses can also carry up to 90 passengers. I wouldn't try more to fit more people because the leg room isn't abundant (for safety reasons). To me the Thomas Built Buses Saf-T-Liner HDX is strange looking, but the best looking bus out on the streets. The mirrors are one of my favorite things about it, but I know some people don't like those "bug-like" mirrors.

2003 Saf-T-Liner HDX
Bus Number: W23801 Locations: Lynch Elementary Comment: One of the few larger buses with a wheelchair lift. I heard they're bought so kids who get injured can ride their regular route, "inclusion." The side emergency door is in a different place, usually on the 7th window here it's on the 9th like the 2005 model year for CCSD's fleet. This picture was taken March 31, 2005.

Bus Number: 23915 Location: Mountain View Elementary Comment: Nevada requires 2 license plates on all vehicles, so CCSD couldn't put it on the bumper like they've always done. |

Bus Number: 24924 Location: Arville Bus Yard Comment: Here's a good closeup of the 2004 Saf-T-Liner HDX. |
2004 Saf-T-Liner HDX
Bus Number: 24931 (left) & 24935 (making a right turn) Location: Turning after pick up at Mountain View Elementary. Comment: The driver in 24931 looked at me like I was crazy when he passed by me. I guess I'd think so if I saw someone with a huge camera taking a picture of a bus, lol. And you can see that the HDX model has 1 piece of glass for each door (2 pieces on each bus) and the door is black. The picture looks a little blurry because I was far away from the buses, but it looks good still. |
2004 Saf-T-Liner HDX
Bus Number: 24935 Location: Near Desert Inn Road and Cabana Road Comment: I'm sure this bus looks very familiar. It was the same one at Mountain View (above), but it's at another location. This bus was returning to the bus yard.

2005 Saf-T-Liner HDX
Bus Number: 25982 Location: Las Vegas Blvd. South (near the outlet malls). Comments: Seen pulled over Sunday morning at a Las Vegas Marathon. Notice that the Emergency Door on this series is on window 9 instead of 7. And that the air conditioning system is roof mounted because of the luggage space below the bus. The "Thomas Built Buses" logo is missing on the roof of this bus.

2005 Saf-T-Liner HDX
NEW
Bus Number: 25959 Location: Mandalay Bay Parking Lot Comments: This was the first time I saw a 2005 Saf-T-Liner HDX in person. Look at where the side Emergency Door is, it's on the 9th window instead of being on the 7th. The refective tape used on this model years buses is brighter than previous model years CCSD has. More LED's are used this year, and of course this bus has standard headroom.
